The Hurt locker is probably one of the best war movies created in several last years. It manages to represent all the details of was campaign together with all the feelings of soldiers in very original and innovate way. All the action takes place during last Iraq war and it shows the true life of soldiers of bomb squad. These guys got a new leader and now they face his reckless attitude to that dangerous job. All the Bravo Company (that is the name if this bomb squad) members are really tired of this cruel war and even counting days till departure. However they get new commander - Staff Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner) and he seems to be crazy about defusing bombs. Actually instead of fear he likes his profession and all the terrible experiences of the war doesn't bother him.

The director of this outstanding movie is very skilled Kathryn Bigelow who does the perfect job depicting soldier's inner feeling and his psycho while he is surrounded by horror of the war and possibility of instant death. He manages to expose all the aspects of war that are usually hidden by special effects and loud music in such movies. Kathryn concentrates in the darker, claustrophobic senses and the tension increases with every next minute of this war film.

Jeremy Renner also did quite an outstanding job in The Hurt Locker and now we can truly enjoy the screenplay. Despite that his character is absolutely different from other soldiers in his attitude to war, it looks like he is the most realistic one in all the squad. His intentions and feeling remain secret till the end of that movies and it adds even more spice in the action.

Of course it is not documentary film by all the events and atmosphere of war campaign is described absolutely professionally so you can be sure that unrealistic details spoil all the impression. The war in this film doesn't look like epic battle, it is shown way better. As a normal persona you can only feel with these guys with severely damaged psyche and empathize together with them. Don't even think about missing amazing film nominated for Oscar and after buying this DVD you wouldn't regret. Most probably you would watch it again and again just like other masterpieces in this genre.
